POLICE have appealed for witnesses to a suburban hit and run that left a pedestrian seriously injured and requiring emergency medical treatment on Saturday.

The 25-year-old man was struck by an unknown vehicle on Golden Grove Dr Bentley Park, near the intersection of Leeuwin Cres, at about 7.30pm.

Police allege the driver of the vehicle fled the scene leaving the pedestrian seriously injured person by the side of the road.

The injured man was later taken to Cairns Hospital for treatment and was in a stable condition Sunday morning, according to health spokeswoman.

The vehicle involved may be a blue-coloured four-wheel-drive with a bull bar that could have damage to a front metal rod holder and have a cover for a rectangular spot light missing.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have dashcam footage or has sighted a similar vehicle to contact police.
