One toddler has been released from hospital, but one remains in a serious and condition at Cairns hospital after they were pulled out of a swimming pool from a private residence at Worree on Friday afternoon.

A Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service spokeswoman confirmed one of the boys has been released.

“One has been released and one is in serious condition,” the spokeswoman said.

On Friday paramedics had reportedly taken two toddlers to hospital after rushing to a Cairns unit complex on reports of two “unresponsive” children pulled out of a swimming pool.

A QAS spokeswoman said ambulance crews arrived at the Rigg Street address at about 3.50pm to treat the two toddlers.

While initial calls indicated the children were unresponsive, the spokeswoman said the latest update was that they were both breathing.

The children, both boys, have been taken to Cairns Hospital.

“Two young male children were transported to Cairns Hospital in serious conditions following a post-immersion incident at a pool at a unit complex in Woree at 3.40pm,” a QAS spokesperson said.
