Captain Cook Highway is now open on both directions to Oak Beach after it was temporarily closed following a highway crash early this morning.
A man was flown to Cairns Hospital with severe injuries following a horror motorcycle crash 16km south of Port Douglas on Friday morning at 7.45am.
Emergency services responded to the single motorcycle crash on the Captain Cook Highway just before the turn in to Oak Beach Road.
A Queensland Ambulance Services spokesman said a rescue helicopter had been deployed.
The man, believed to be in his 30s, was in a serious condition with severe spinal injuries, he said.
A second patient was taken to Mossman Hospital due to emotional distress but no severe injuries, he added.
Captain Cook Highway was reduced to a single lane due to the crash.
According to the Department of Transport and Main Roads, traffic delays were to be expected.
