Police have released footage of the moment they arrested a 30-year-old Mooroobool man after he allegedly broke into a Westcourt business on Thursday night.

Police have released footage of the moment they arrested a 30-year-old Mooroobool man after he allegedly broke into a Westcourt business on Thursday night.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said police were called to the Mulgrave Road business at about 11pm on Thursday, July 3, advising of “an active break and enter in progress”.

“Officers from the Dog Squad and Tactical Crime Squad attended and located the man a short distance away where he was taken into custody,” she said.

They provided a video of the arrest, which shows a police dog approaching a garden bed on the other side of a fence before a police officer spots the man and alerts another officer.

Police will allege the man stole a quantity of merchandise from the store, damaged its front with a paver and caused additional damage inside.

The man was charged with one count each of enter premises and commit indictable offence by break, possess utensils, and failure to appear in accordance with undertaking.

He was refused bail, and is due to appear before Cairns Magistrates Court on Friday, July 4.
