The court heard Best forged a document from a fake company to attach to his rental application for a $795-per-week Trinity Beach home, for which he was ultimately successful.
Police searched Best’s house on November 17, 2019, locating a bag containing the methylamphetamine, hidden in a ducted airconditioning vent in the living room ceiling, and buprenorphine in Best’s bedside table.
The court heard the amount of methamphetamine was commercial in quantity, but there was nothing else in the home to suggest a commercial operation.
Justice Jim Henry sentenced Best to two and a half years in prison, to be released on September 6, taking into account time served.
