Jetstar, Virgin Australia launch international flight sales including Cairns Airport deals

It has been a while since we’ve been able to say this, but an Aussie airline has launched a huge international flight sale and Cairns deals are included.

FOR the first time since before the Covid-19 pandemic started, Far North travellers have the opportunity to snap up bargain international flights from Cairns.

With fully vaccinated Aussies able to leave the country or fly – quarantine-free – into Sydney and Melbourne from November 1, Jetstar is launching its 2022 International Sale.

Among the cheap fares are Darwin to Singapore from $109 one way, Sydney to Honolulu from $179 and Gold Coast to Queenstown from $165.

There are also some Cairns bargains included in the sale after Jetstar confirmed it intends to resume the Far North’s Japan flights in February and Bali in April.

Far Northerners can snap up flights to Tokyo (Narita) or Osaka (Kansai) from $199 each way.

Business-class tickets to Tokyo are also up for grabs from $649 one way.

Travel dates for the routes vary but include some peak periods in 2022.

The sale is due to end 11pm Queensland time on Saturday, October 30, unless sold out prior.

Virgin Australia has also launched a Yay For Holidays sale, which includes a number of domestic and international deals.

Aussie travellers can book Brisbane to Bali from $279 one way or Brisbane to Queenstown from $287.

Domestically, Virgin Australia’s sale includes Cairns deals to Gold Coast (from $79 one way), Brisbane ($89), Adelaide ($105), Sydney ($105), Melbourne ($129) and Perth ($145).

However, the sales come amid fears that quarantine-free international travel to Queensland could be delayed because the state’s vaccination rate is lagging so far behind the rest of the country.

Deputy Premier Steven Miles on Sunday reiterated his government’s stance that Queenslanders returning from overseas would still be forced into quarantine until the state reached 90 per cent.
