The deputy principal at Mount St Bernard College in Herberton has been charged with sexual assault.
Kieran Ryan, 32, appeared in Herberton’s Magistrates Court on March 5 facing one charge of sexual assault.
Bill Dixon, Catholic Education Diocese of Cairns executive director, said “Kieran Ryan, Deputy Principal at Mt St Bernard College at Herberton … has been charged by police with a criminal offence. The alleged offence has no connection with children or young people,” he said.
“Staff and parents have been informed and support offered to all members of the school community if required. The college will continue to monitor the wellbeing of students and staff. Student protection and the wellbeing of students and staff is always our highest priority.”
Mr Ryan is on bail and will return to Herberton Magistrates Court on May 28, 2024.
