Hedley launches two Cairns industrial real estate projects

Developer Tom Hedley is best known at present for snapping up Far North hotels and rejuvenating them, but the astute businessman has two smart-looking projects underway at Portsmith and Manunda.

DEVELOPER Tom Hedley is best known for snapping up Far North hotels and rejuvenating them but the astute businessman has two smart-looking projects underway at Portsmith and Manunda.

Two major industrial centres will be complete by September with space at both now on the market.

Portside Industrial is at 43 Aumuller St, Portsmith, and The Cannons Industrial Centre is at 45-49 Cannon St, Manunda.

They will have warehouse, industrial and factory spaces.

Knight Frank agent John Lynch said both were was priced at $3500sq m.

“This is good news for Cairns, we have been crying out for extra industrial development for a number of years, but the opportunities to acquire land are few and far between,” Mr Lynch said.

“We are very happy working with Hedley Group, it is going to be a good finished product, a lot of work went into planning, we said to the builders ‘we want something with a bow tie on it’.”

The strata development Cannons offers retail warehousing, storage facilities or workshops.

Mr Lynch said the site was only 3km from the CBD and 3km from the airport.

“These are modern designed stratas, all with internal plumbing provided, and 5m ceiling height, allowing owners to add mezzanine floors in the future when they require more space,” he said.

“The fully landscaped entrance and off street parking provide flexibility to operate while presenting a very professional look.”

The strata Portside Industrial is in the heart of the Cairns Marine Precinct, and offered small business owners the opportunity to own their own industrial units, Mr Lynch said.

Approved for industry and manufacturing, these commercially zoned strata units range from 80sq m and 260sq m, each with plumbing and sewerage connected.

High clearance roller doors allow access for large vehicle loading and unloading.

All eight units are concrete tilt wall construction with electric roller doors, LED lighting, power and data.

The sheds have 6m high internal clearance.
