Two men have died on remote Far North roads in a series of unrelated crashes on Saturday.

A 64-year-old Conondale man died at the scene of a fatal motorbike crash on the Gulf Development Rd at Mount Surprise about 7.40pm.

When emergency services were called to the incident they found the rider laying on the road, in what they labelled as a single-motorcycle crash.

Mount Surprise is about 284km south west of Cairns and 454km north west of Townsville.

Emergency services were also called to a separate fatal incident, this one at Birra Rd on Mornington Island at 11pm.

Initial investigations indicated at 11pm a four-wheel drive rolled on Birra Rd and one of its occupants was ejected from the vehicle.

That occupant, a 19-year-old Wellesley Islands man, died at the scene.

The other occupant, a 19-year-old Gununa man, was transported to the Mornington Island Hospital with minor injuries.

Forensic Crash Unit investigations are continuing into both crashes.

The two deaths take the Far North’s road toll up to seven for the year.
