East Trinity crash: 23-year-old man dies at scene

A man has died following a crash near Cairns on Sunday, while the driver and other passengers escaped with minor injuries.

A man has died following a crash east of Cairns on Sunday, while the driver and other passengers escaped with minor injuries.

Police were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Pine Creek Yarrabah Rd, East Trinity, about 1.15pm, Sunday following reports a Honda Civic, which had been travelling in a westerly direction, left the road and hit a tree.

A 23-year-old man, a passenger in the car, was declared deceased at the scene.

Authorities understand through early investigations the vehicle had left the road and struck a tree.

The driver and two other passengers were treated for minor injuries.

Investigations are continuing, and anyone with relevant information is urged to contact police.
