Cairns tactical crime squad pounces on alleged armed robber, Michael James Anderson

A Ravenshoe local on an alleged one-man crime wave has been busted by Cairns police after allegedly robbing a homeowner of firearms with a knife and stealing seven cars in a meth-fuelled haze.

A RAVENSHOE local on an alleged one man crime wave has been busted by Cairns police after holding up a Mount Sheridan homeowner with a knife to rip off guns and stealing seven cars in a meth-fuelled haze.

Michael James Anderson, 36, fronted a Cairns court on Friday charged with armed robbery in company, enter dwelling with intent, possess dangerous drug, fail to dispose of needle and syringe and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, seven counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, four counts each of stealing and disqualified driving.

Police allege Mr Anderson entered a home in Matoska Close, Mount Sheridan on September 29, and threatened a 60-year-old woman with a knife before stealing firearms from the property.

At 2pm on Thursday members of the Far North Tactical Crime Squad raided a Fearnley St unit complex and took Mr Anderson into custody.

Police allege the man was in possession of a quantity of methamphetamines and a used syringe when arrested.

Mr Anderson is also linked to property crime and fuel drive offs in Manunda, Woree, Edmonton, Gordonvale and Trinity Park areas, with offences alleged to be committed from December 2020 to October 13, police allege.

Mr Anderson’s matters included a total of 20 property, drug and driving offences and were heard in the Cairns Magistrates Court on Friday.

The case was adjourned until January 11, 2023.
