A Yorkeys Knob woman has recounted the loud smash she heard in the dark of the night, only to discover a stolen car had rammed into her front garden.

Diane Morris said it was not what she expected so early on Saturday.

“At 5am in the morning we heard this enormous smash and the dogs have just gone off their head,” Ms Morris said.

“We’ve jumped on the cameras and we’ve noticed it’s a white Nissan patrol.”

“It’s come down our street, mounted the footpath of the other side of the road, done a U-turn and taken out the two trees.

“It’s just frustrating to wake up to the smash and the disturbance. Just to wake up and see them laughing about their actions.”

Ms Morris said the awful experience has kept her up at night

“It was so loud, it was awful actually. I flew up out of bed,” she said.

“Even last night I was waking all the time thinking something was going to happen again. It’s quite daunting, we are all exhausted.

The tree that was damaged at the front of her house was not just any old tree.

“It’s the tree we light up for Christmas every year,” she said.

“To me it’s quite a community tree and that’s sad.”
Ms Morris isn’t going to let the tree go down without a fight.

“We have it up and bolstered with star pickets and we are going to do some more trimming to try and save it but its smashed at the bottom,” she said.

“I don’t know if we are going to save it or not.”

Ms Morris said she has seen the crime get worse in the past five years.

“It’s not the nice place it used to be at all.”
