OPERATIONAL works are set to kick off at a $300m housing estate on the northern beaches and very few lots in the first release remain available.
A total of 87 lots were released in mid-October in Enclave 1, which comprised stages 1 and 2 of the The Palms Collection at Kewarra Beach, developer Darren Halpin said.
Some 70 are under contract and eight more are on hold – leaving just nine lots remaining.
“We were expecting this level of interest because of what we are doing in the precinct, and we have priced them very well,” Mr Halpin said.
“We’ve submitted a development application for operational works for stages 1, 2, 3 and 4.”
The combined application seeks to reconfigure 1 lot into 174 lots and a park.
Earthworks began in early November for stage one, which will comprise 40 residential lots, a large amphitheatre, parklands and community facilities.
The development, which is being constructed on the site of the former Paradise Palms golf course, will also include a waterpark and playground, a new Catholic primary school, a tourist park and villas, and a village centre with shops, restaurants and bars.
It will have more than 30ha of open space including 5km of walking and cycling trails between and around each enclave.
The central park will have an amphitheatre with tiered seating, barbecue shelters and a market zone under Fig trees.
It is the first Urban Development Institute of Australia certified EnviroDevelopment.
Mr Halpin said he expected the estate to attract more than 95,000 visitors annually.
The Palms’ journey included a legal appeal from neighbouring residents to block redevelopment of the former golf course.
The dispute ended in June after a settlement was reached between the parties.
