Ms Struber said Valentines Day could be stressful on a first date.

“But I think when you meet the right person you feel comfortable straight away.”

She said getting the right “I love you” gift can be fun.

“Because I work for a shopping centre, I’ll be able to dash out and get Josh something like some Calvin Klein underwear,” she said.

“I’m sure lots of people will pop into a shop for something nice to make their loved one feel special.”

Surrounded by a veritable river of divine scarlet and pink roses, Stella Florist proprietor Natalie Beattie is smiling as she and her staff prepare the many bouquets which will delight the lucky Valentine’s Day recipients.

Ms Beattie said that they have been thrilled that so many people are wanting to spoil someone special with beautiful flowers.

“This Valentine’s Day has been crazy but fantastic,” she said.

“As it’s on a Monday, it’s so much busier than last year, I think everyone is getting into the fun and romance of sending flowers to someone at their workplace or home.”

While many romantics are ordering colourful bouquets, she said traditional flowers will send their message of passion and romance.

“Surprisingly, red roses are still very popular as are beautiful pink roses, from a single stem to something very luxe,” she said.

“Oriental lilies and dahlias are in demand.

“Everyone loves opening the door to be given a bouquet, people are looking for a reason to connect and flowers are wonderful to give and receive.”
