The court is waiting for an autopsy report on a woman allegedly murdered last year in Manunda by the man with whom she was in an “intimate relationship”.
Brendon Paul Woolla, 48, has been in custody since Friday, April 8, 2022, when he allegedly assaulted her causing severe head injuries.
Paramedics were called to a Eureka St, Manunda house at 5.30am on April 8 last year but could not save the 47-year-old woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene at 6.20am.
Mr Woolla was charged with murder the following day.
Detective Inspector Kevin Goan described the man and woman as “itinerants” who had been sleeping rough.
The Cairns Magistrates Court heard on Friday that the prosecution had not supplied an autopsy report on the woman and still did not have an estimated time of arrival for it.
The court was told a doctor in Brisbane would be supplying the report, but he in turn was awaiting a pathology report, and no further information was available.
Counsel Ashton Marini is representing Mr Woolla.
The matter was adjourned to June 30 for a committal mention.
“If it is available earlier than that I’d ask you to bring it on,” said Magistrate Robert Spencer, due to the seriousness of the matter.
