Australian hip-hop royalty Bliss n Eso and singer-songwriter Matt Corby will headline the Be Social Fest in Cairns later this year.
The star-studded line-up also features an international and national mix of genre-pushing acts, including Baauer (USA), Petit Biscuit (France), Sneaky Sound System, Boo Seeka, Crooked Colours, Karnivool, Ocean Sleeper, Mashd N Kutcher and Ruby Fields.
Festival director Michael Delaney said he was excited to bring Be Social Fest to Cairns Showgrounds on October 25, after previously hosting it in Mackay.
“We always wanted to do an event in Cairns and when the opportunity came up to relocate, we thought, it’s probably one of the best locations in the north to hold a music event,” Mr Delaney said.
“It’s such a great hotspot with direct flights from all capital cities, and I feel like there’s a lot to offer and we also want to contribute to the region.”
Mr Delaney said the non-touring festival would stay in the region for years to come, boosting the local economy and music scene.
“What we see in music festivals in regional towns is it’s more about community, and our approach is, we’re a non-touring festival, so it encompasses the community and attractions for the regions we put them in,” he said.
The festival will kick off with an exclusive 18+ pre-party at The Jack on Friday, October 24, however, Mr Delaney said the main festival would be open to people of all ages.
“Be Social is probably a bit different to traditional music festivals in that … we’ve managed to design a layout where parents can bring their children, but there’s also a separate area for people 18+, so all groups can experience the festival without it being too segregating,” he said.
“Another spin is we tailor our tickets, so general admission is $89 but we tailor it for people to be able to come during the day … enjoy the food, show rides, music, markets, but we also have exclusive tickets (from $120) for people who want that front stage access.”
The main event on Saturday, October 25, from 1pm to 10pm at Cairns Showgrounds, will include food stalls, show rides, art installations, and markets, as well as all-ages areas, 18+ areas, VIP areas and a VIP family area.
Presales will open on July 30 via the Be Social Fest website, followed by general ticket release from July 31.
