PIRATES from all age groups gathered together on Sunday for the Barbary Coasters annual Parrothead Concert to have a boogie, eat lots of food and raise some money.

About 220 people attended and more money than last year was raised for Sailability— an organisation which supports disadvantaged and disabled people get out on the water.

Barbary Coasters member Vance Fahey said he was proud of the funds they received with more expected from the donation tins yet to be counted.

“A good amount of money was raised. Just from the raffle alone over $1500 was raised,” he said.

Mr Fahey said it was a fantastic vibe.

“Virtually from the word go, people were dancing. I didn’t see any empty tables.

“The club was incredible, they transformed the inside of the club to a tropical place.”

Mr Fahey said it was a special day as they marked a big anniversary.

“30 years and they’ve always been fundraisers, that’s always one of the things we’ve wanted to do,” he said.
