The man accused of stabbing three people at an entertainment venue in Cairns has been charged with four new offences.

The man accused of stabbing three people at an entertainment venue in Cairns has been charged with four new offences.

Nilesh Goundar, 32, was charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, and one count each of wounding, going armed so as to cause fear, threatening violence and acts intended to maim/disfigure/disable on May 8 - the day after a series of alleged events unfolded the night before.

It’s alleged the incident began at midnight at the Earl St residence of Nilesh Goundar who was drinking with a 25-year-old White Rock man and a woman.

An argument ensued before police allege the 25-year-old man was stabbed in the neck and the woman was also stabbed after attempting to break up the scuffle.

Detective Inspector Kevin Goan said the situation then escalated when Mr Goundar followed the White Rock man into Cazalys.

“The (alleged) offender pursued and located them and made his way into the licensed premises where a third female victim was seated at a pokie machine and she too received a stab to the neck.

“She’s a very unfortunate victim of circumstance.”

On Friday May 17 it emerged that Mr Goundar is facing four further charges including possessing utensils or pipes etc for the administration, consumption or smoking of a drug, possessing dangerous drugs, contravening a police banning notice and a failure to appear in accordance with undertaking.

He will return to Cairns Magistrates Court on June 3.
