Taxi driver allegedly stabs passenger in Paddington after altercation

The 22-year-old passenger was treated for a stab wound to the face following an alleged altercation in an affluent suburb.

A taxi driver has allegedly stabbed a passenger following an altercation in Sydney’s east.

Emergency services were called to Boundary Street in Paddington just after 10pm on Friday following reports a man had been stabbed.

Officers were told there was an altercation before a taxi driver allegedly stabbed a passenger of the taxi.

Paramedics treated a 22-year-old for a stab wound to his face and he was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation launched into the incident.

A 71-year-old man was arrested nearby shortly after and taken to Waverley Police Station.

The man has been charged with reckless wounding.

He was refused bail and is set to front the Parramatta Local Court on Saturday.

Police have urged anyone with information, including dashcam or CCTV footage, to come forward.
