A man has been charged over a chaotic alleged gunpoint robbery during a date organised over Snapchat in Sydney’s south.
Police allege a 22-year-old man was driving on Mi Mi St in Oatley shortly after 10pm on September 7 when he stopped to speak to a woman.
The woman, whom he had spoken to earlier on social media, got in the car while a second woman, who was not known to the man, remained outside.
Suddenly, the man noticed another male allegedly armed with a shotgun saddle up to the side door before he demanded the man’s phone and wallet, according to police.
A second man is alleged to have then approached the vehicle with what the victim told police he believed was a handgun, which was pointed at him.
Police allege a third man attacked the victim with a knife as he attempted to drive away. After a scuffle, the car came hurtling into another parked vehicle.
The three men and two women allegedly fled the scene before NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived to treat the man for lacerations to his arm.
Two days later, police allege a second chaotic incident unfolded at nearby Mulga St in Oatley shortly after 9pm following a confrontation with a trail bike rider.
Police allege a couple confronted the rider of an unregistered bike before the rider and another man allegedly chased the pair into their home.
As the couple tried to close the door, police allege the men broke some of the glass inlay in the door and punched the man in the head.
Paramedics treated a 45-year-old man for swelling and bruising to the forehead at the scene and a 43-year-old woman for minor lacerations.
The two men allegedly fled when police were called.
Following an investigation, police on Thursday arrested a 21-year-old man following a search at a home on Waratah St in Oatley.
The man has since been charged with aggravated break and enter and committing a serious indictable offence with people there.
He was refused bail at Sutherland Local Court to appear before Downing Centre Local Court on February 20.
