The young man killed when a tree fell on him during a camping trip on Saturday has been remembered by his family as a “beautiful soul”.
Alex Oates, 27, was camping at Kevington when a tree fell onto his swag and ute in the early morning.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, about 230km northeast of Melbourne, at 3am.
“The large tree had fallen at a campground near Eildon Jamieson Road,” Victoria Police said on Saturday.
“The 27-year-old Bayles man died at the scene.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious and police will prepare a report for the Coroner.”
Mr Oates’ devastated family told 7News “the world has lost a beautiful soul”.
The young man, a carpenter, was camping with a friend at the time of the tragedy.
