Police are hunting a man after he allegedly robbed a Coles store during a sacred moment on Remembrance Day.

Police are calling on the public to help them catch a man who allegedly robbed a Coles store during the sacred Remembrance Day Minute of Silence.

The sick act allegedly took place at the Coles Manuka store in the ACT about 11am on Monday.

The police allege the man entered the service counter and used a large kitchen knife to force two cash registers open.

“The man then fled the area on foot with a sum of cash,” ACT Police said.

“No one was physically injured during the robbery.”

The man is described as caucasian in appearance, about 30 to 40 years of age, with a medium build and short blonde hair.

He was wearing a navy blue cap, a blue jumper, dark pants and black runners at the time of the incident, the police said.

He also had a pair of glasses tucked into the neck of his jumper.

CCTV footage captured the incident, with the man seen at the cash registers before jumping over onto the shop floor and then running off down the street.

November 11, or Remembrance Day, marks the signing of the armistice agreement that ended World War 1 on November 11, 1918.
