Bikie's son shot twice during home invasion at Semaphore

POLICE are worried Fink Mark Sandery could take revenge after armed thugs shot his 11-year-old son.

POLICE are worried Fink Mark Sandery could take revenge after armed thugs shot his 11-year-old son.

The notorious bikie's son was sleeping in the front bedroom of a Semaphore federation-style villa when the intruders burst in and fired two shots through the doorway - both bullets hitting him in the leg.

Neighbours called police after hearing screams from the house but when they arrived, they found only blood and a number of occupants who refused to say what had happened.

The Sunday Mail  understands nobody from the house called police or an ambulance for the boy, who was driven to Queen Elizabeth Hospital's emergency department by a parent.

It was the hospital that called police to report a boy had been shot.

Superintendent Howard Davies, of Western Adelaide Police, said Sandery - a senior member of the Finks - was not home at the time and people from the house were refusing to co-operate with police.

"I am appalled that an innocent child who has nothing to do with this in any way, shape or form has been shot and that people know what has happened and they're not willing to come forward and tell the police what has happened so we can investigate the matter and bring those people who are responsible to justice," he said.

"There are people who have information for the police but they are not assisting this investigation and that makes our job more difficult."

Media who gathered outside the house yesterday were subjected to a torrent of abuse from Sandery and his fellow Finks, who hurled rocks, bricks and eggs in their direction.

One rock hit a car as it drove past the house, while another narrowly missed a glazier there to repair windows smashed during the late night attack. One window had a swastika flag hanging as a curtain.

Supt Davies said people were seen outside the house talking after the boy was taken to hospital. He said they left in a diesel car but there was no description of the offenders or the car. The boy was the only one injured. Two other young boys were seen leaving the house yesterday morning.

Sandery was jailed in 1997 for his involvement in the riot, including tying up, urinating on and bashing four Yatala prison officers.

He was also jailed for instigating a conspiracy to break into a bikie gang's premises to steal cannabis plants.

Neighbour Mick Cooper said he knew a Finks member lived at the house but there had never been trouble at the property before.

"That's a dog act," he said of the incident. "What's going on in this town when they shooting children?"

Supt Davies would not speculate on whether the shooting was carried out by a rival gang or if it was over an internal fight. He also said it was uncertain whether the child was deliberately targeted or not.

The boy was last night at the Women's and Children's Hospital in a stable condition.
