A 49-year-old woman remains in critical condition after she was hit be a car in Bees Creek.
NT Police said she was taken to Royal Darwin hospital with serious injuries after a car hit her, a man, and their two dogs at 5.20am on Tuesday.
They said the man suffered minor injuries.
Police said the two dogs – one of which was named Gizmo – were found dead at the scene.
NT Police said the Major Crash Investigation Unit was investigating the crash, and traffic diversions were currently in place along Bees Creek Rd.
Initial investigations suggested the driver of the vehicle had been on his way to work when the incident occurred.
“The driver is fine, if emotionally scarred I can imagine,” Detective Sergeant Jeshua Kelly said.
He said the driver had tested negative for alcohol and drugs as part of the investigation.
Sergeant Kelly said family members collected the bodies of the dogs from the side of Bees Creek Rd at 10.45am.
“I can imagine they’re (the family) pretty upset about it,” he said.
Traffic diversions remained in place until 11.30am.
