Southern Watch Commander Mick Fields said a 27-year-old woman was riding her scooter on Kempe St when she was stopped by two children about 11.15pm on Friday.

Sergeant Fields said one of the children demanded the woman hand over her scooter, and hit her wrist when she declined.

He said the woman handed over the scooter, and the boy allegedly rode away.

Sergeant Fields said the boy was described as an Indigenous male aged between 13 and 15 with curly, black hair.

He said the boy was about 5’3 or 5’5 tall, and had been wearing black shorts, a grey shirt, and a black hoodie.

Southern Watch Commander Mick Fields said a woman parked outside the Alice Springs CBD shops about 4pm on Thursday but accidentally dropped her car keys while walking into the centre.

Sergeant Fields said a 17-year-old girl then allegedly found the keys and drove away with the woman’s car.

He said police pursued the vehicle for a time, and the vehicle was later found by a member of the dog squad.

Sergeant Fields alleged the teen drove the vehicle at the cop, who was forced to duck out of the way.

He said the vehicle and its occupant were again found on Ellery Drive, where the teen was arrested and taken into custody.

Sergeant Fields said the girl would face court on Friday and her charges included recklessly endanger serious harm, driving a motor vehicle without consent, assault police, dangerous driving, and unlicensed driving.
