A pastor charged with assault has a new legal team, a court has heard, with evidence in the case yet to be disclosed.
Alice Springs Pastor Terence ‘Terry’ Philip Medling, 73, had his matter back before the Local Court in Alice on Thursday.
Mr Medling had new legal representation, defence lawyer Melissa Chen told the court on Thursday.
Ms Chen asked for the matter to be adjourned as Mr Medling’s new lawyers from Centre Legal had “only recently been briefed on the matter”.
Ms Chen also said there were “child forensic interviews” which had yet to be disclosed to the defence team.
Police prosecutor Kolisi Masani said the matter would “require a three day hearing” but Judge Anthony Hopkins, presiding over the matter, said “I won’t make any further orders in respect to that”.
Mr Medling did not appear in court on Thursday, as he was previously excused from doing so if legally represented.
He has been charged with six counts of aggravated assault.
At his first court appearance in September 2024, Mr Medling was represented by Harvie Stiller, who told the court the charges would be contested.
Mr Medling was first served with a notice to appear in court in August last year.
The allegations stem from an incident alleged to have occurred in February 2023.
Mr Medling was allegedly rough with a child at Old Timers Town Camp in Alice Springs.
He is out on bail, and Judge Hopkins adjourned his matter to July 10.
