Geelong skipper Patrick Dangerfield has been named the people’s Addy MVP for the second week in a row after a dominant display in the midfield against Sydney.

The Cats belted the Swans by 93 points, with many fans drawing similarities between last year’s grand final and the round 6 rematch.

Dangerfield was at his fantastic best against the Swans, collecting 31 disposals, six marks, two tackles, seven clearances, three goal assists and 592 metres gained.

He led all possession winners on the ground, as well as most metres gained from any player in the contest.

Dangerfield polled 52 per cent of the votes, a clear first, while born-again ruck Mark Blicavs finished second with 26 per cent.

Blicavs has been deployed as a midfielder throughout 2023, with times pinch hitting as a ruck, but he had the sole duties against Peter Ladhams on Saturday night.

In the absence of Rhys Stanley and Jon Ceglar, Blicavs recorded 15 disposals, 15 hit outs, six clearances and kicked a goal.

Star forwards Jeremy Cameron and Tom Hawkins finished third (eight per cent) and fourth (five per cent) respectively in the poll for their five goal hauls, with Cameron’s extra disposal count (17 to 8) seemingly giving him the edge in the votes.

Returning hero Sam Simpson, who played his first game in 603 days when he was named as a late in for Jon Ceglar, kicked two goals from 14 disposals (including the opener), and finished fifth in the poll with five per cent of the votes.

Each week in the minutes after the final siren, we will ask you to vote online for your top Cat each week.
