33-year-old man charged following alleged graffiti spree across Mount Isa CBD

Queensland Police have charged an alleged serial graffiti vandal who is accused of spraying a conspiratorial, anti-government phrase across more than a dozen businesses in Mount Isa’s CBD.

A 33-year-old man has been arrested and charged with 19 counts of wilful damage by graffiti, as well as five drug-related charges and one count of possessing a graffiti implement.

It is alleged that between March 15 and 16, the man sprayed the phrase ‘GOV FORCES AIDS’ across 14 commercial premises around Mount Isa.

Queensland Police executed a search warrant on June 11 at a residence in Mount Isa where two men were found, along with items linked to the graffiti including spray paint cans and clothing.

An amount of cannabis and drug paraphernalia were also found.

A 37-year-old man was referred for drug diversion.

Queensland Police have thanked the community for their assistance during the investigation and urged anyone with more information to contact the police.
