Review: 2024 Porsche Taycan Turbo – EV ‘masterpiece’ that will finally convert the sceptics

If you’re a sceptic of electric vehicles, get behind the wheel of the Porsche Taycan Turbo, and you’ll be converted.
This EV masterpiece won’t just change your perspective, it will provide you with a drive like you’ve never enjoyed before.
It’s hands down one of the most exhilarating cars I’ve ever driven, with a design that caught my attention and a driving experience that sealed the deal – if I had the cash on hand.
Starting at approximately $307,500 plus on-road-costs (ORCs), it’s not a cheap car.
The 2025 Taycan Turbo offers more power and improved battery efficiency, with a total range of 626km.
The dual motor set up offers 520kW (or up to 650kW with launch control) and a 0-100km/h sprint time of 2.7 seconds.
You can go faster with the monstrous Taycan Turbo S or the truly insane Taycan Turbo GT, though there’s really no need to be so extreme.

The regular Taycan Turbo is more than rapid, and it’s also beautiful on the bends.
On winding roads, the Taycan feels smooth thanks to Porsche’s all-wheel-drive system and impeccable chassis.
The updated Turbo features the new 105kWh performance battery plus, which boasts 12 per cent more energy density while shedding 9 kgs compared to the previous 93.4kWh unit.
It can charge up to 320kWh, allowing for a 315km boost in just 10 minutes when connected to a 350kWh ultra fast charger.
The Taycan is as striking to look at as it is to drive.
Its design is undeniably sporty with a bonnet that slopes sharply at a flat angle, flowing gracefully between the car’s pronounced wings.
The aggressive front-end design gives it a serious presence when on the road – while also contributing to its aerodynamics.
Inside, the cabin is spacious and practical and offers seating for four (or five with an optional middle seat).
The interior updates are subtle and the cabin remains sleek, functional and luxurious.
I’d recommend opting for the large fixed glass panoramic roof as it transforms the cabin, allowing light to flood in.

One of the standout features is the 16.8 inch curved drive display which includes a new intelligent battery widget that provides real-time updates on charging capability, battery temperature and charging rates – extremely handy when on the road.
The boot offers 366 litres of space and can expand to 1171 litres with the rear seats folded down.
Upfront, you’ll also find the frunk which offers 84 litres.
Porsche has updated the infotainment system to offer Apple CarPlay integration, a video streaming function and the ability to control climate settings via the Apple CarPlay interface.
When it comes to personalisation, Porsche truly lets you create your dream Taycan.
