An elderly man with a walking stick has been caught on video appearing to key a car in a busy Melbourne shopping centre, with the owner making a plea for help.
In the footage, the man appears to drag the key along the side of the vehicle in the DFO Uni Hill carpark at Bundoora about 11.15am on March 3.
The man, who is carrying a black walking stick and a newspaper, reappears sometime later and walks passed the damaged vehicle before disappearing from frame.
The car’s owner has since made a plea to the public to “help find this bugger … He keyed our car” after the footage was uploaded to Dash Cam Owners Australia.
Users online pointed out it appeared from the video that the car may have been parked in a disability spot and the man could have “thought he needed it more”.
“As it is close to the escalators, must be (a disability) spot and this oldie wasn’t happy that someone took his favourite,” one person said.
Another commenter added: “I had to rewatch it as (I) couldn't believe what I was seeing, Just wow.”
Victoria Police has been contacted for comment.
