Toyota recalls Lexus car over potentially fatal battery defect
A luxury vehicle has been recalled over fears a manufacturing defect with the battery could result in a potentially fatal vehicle fire.

More than 150 luxury Lexus cars have been recalled over fears a serious manufacturing fault could lead to the battery short circuiting while the hybrid car charges.
The defect affects the medium SUV NX40h+ F Sport vehicles made between 2021 to 2022. The car has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of about $90,000.
An issue with the DC-DC converter connected to the 12V battery could lead to a short circuiting and overheating fears and a car fire.
The government’s vehicle recall site warned: “A vehicle fire increases the risk of causing serious injuries or death to the vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders and/or damage to property.”
Drivers can find the list of affected vehicle identification numbers (VIN) on the government Vehicle Recalls website.
Owners will be contacted by Lexus in writing and will be asked to make an appointment to replace the DC-DC converter free of charge.
