AN Adelaide bridal store has donated dozens of last-season wedding gowns to help a South Australian charity raise much needed funds.

Minda, the state’s largest non-Government disability support organisation giving help to children and adults with intellectual disabilities, hopes the Caleche’s donation of 50 wedding dresses will raise money vital for services, and to promote its op shop.

Caleche has donated the gowns, along with 20 mother-of-the-bride dresses, for Minda to sell at its op shop restyle Sanctuary in Brighton.

The restyle Sanctuary shop will host a private event in March to showcase and sell the gowns.

They will be up for grabs for between $300-1000.

Sarah Poppy is looking forward to helping out at the event.

“I think it is absolutely fantastic and the dresses are stunning,” Ms Poppy says.

“To think that you can get a dress which could’ve previously had a $5000 price tag at the fraction of a price and also knowing the money is going to Minda is amazing.”

Restyle Sanctuary manager Vanessa Hillman says money raised will be pumped back into the organisation.

“We have clients work at the shop as volunteers and this helps them gain experience in a real work setting, learn skills and also gain confidence,” Ms Hillman says.

She says there is limited space in the shop for the event, but brides-to-be can contact her to seek a place on the invite list.

Caleche Bridal co-owner Eric Soubert said it was important to help those less fortunate.

“We are preparing to launch a new range ... so rather than trying to sell the dresses, we are helping people benefit from this,” Mr Soubert said.

Minda is yet to finalise a date for the Seventy Dresses event.
