North Haven Marina construction to restart and allow tourist boats
The construction of a 103-berth marina at North Haven is set to resume seven years after its previous owners went into administration.

The new owner of a halted 103-berth marina at North Haven wants to complete the project and allow tourist boats into its area.
It would be the first time there had been any movement at the former Crown Marina in seven years since its previous owner went bust.
Small operator 35 South Marina, which bought the northernmost part of North Haven Marina in January, has lodged a new application with Port Adelaide Enfield Council asking for permission for tourist boats to moor and to allow owners to live on their boats.
It is understood the marina at North Haven, first approved in 2009, is the only one in the complex of four marinas where owners are not allowed to sleep on their vessels.
A report prepared by planning firm Jensen Plus said the development had been a loss-making venture since its inception and the economic viability of its future was dependent on the approval of overnight stays and commercial boats.
It said market demand was driven “largely by the ability to stay aboard vessels”.
Three of the five approved berth stations have been built, with pylons for the final two having already been installed.
It meant the new owner would only have to install new pontoons and walkways to complete the project.
There are currently only 36 berths leased at the marina — and a total of 103 moorings would be available when works were complete.
About 30 of them would be available for people wishing to stay overnight, 10 would be for commercial boats and the remainder for the long-term housing of recreational boats.
35 South Marina recently bought the slice of the marina from an administrator that had controlled the place since 2012.
The development of the marina was stopped after Crown Marina went into liquidation in August 2012.
