A $110 MILLION hotel and apartment complex set to bring luxury five-star accommodation to Glenelg North has been delayed again, three years after it was approved.

Lustro Hotel group owner and developer Bruno Marveggio has been granted a one-year extension on his development application, requiring work to begin at Adelphi Tce by June next year. Lustro CEO Sonia Lefevre said they the business was working with luxury hotel chain Langham and “taking the time to get it right”.

“This project is still going ahead,” Ms Lefevre said.

“I know when people hear the dates have moved they start worrying … but this is an exciting project.

“The level of design that goes into an international five-star hotel … we’re just not rushing.”

The new 146-room hotel overlooking the Glenelg marina will feature an infinity pool, fine-dining seafood restaurant, outdoor recreation area, cafe, bar, function centre and shops.

Demolition of the old two-storey Comfort Inn Haven Marina was due to happen in December to make way for the 12-storey development.

In March Ms Lefevre saidwork had been pushed back to between July and September, but last week she said work would not start before this December.

Ms Lefevre said the project was in its “final design phase”.

Major construction would start next year and take about 18 months.

Ms Lefevre said Comfort Inn would continue taking bookings until November.

Holdfast Bay Glenelg ward councillor Bob Patton said residents were keen to see the project go ahead.

“I think it would be good for the area,” Cr Patton said.
