A 42-year-old man from the western suburbs of Adelaide accused of sexually exploiting a child has been given bail.
Jaspar Bupre, of South Brighton, is charged with persistent sexual exploitation of a child and two counts of sexual intercourse with a person under 14 years.
He is also accused of having oral sex with a child under the age of 14.
Court documents show Bupre allegedly exploited a girl for more than four years until his arrest.
Police allege Bupre inappropriately touched the girl and caused her to expose herself to him on more than one occasion.
It is further alleged that Bupre engaged in oral sex with the girl earlier this year.
On Wednesday, a police prosecutor told the Christies Beach Magistrates Court that police were opposed to all forms of bail.
“The offending is on the upper end of seriousness for this type of offence,” he said.
But Magistrate Rodney Oates granted Bupre bail on strict home detention bail conditions.
Speaking to the defendant’s mother, Mr Oates said it was her responsibility as guarantor to ensure Bupre complied with the conditions.
“If you become aware if he is breaching a bail condition it is your obligation, as difficult as it might be, to let the police know,” he said.
“If you became aware that he is having any contact whatsoever with any person under the age of 18 regardless of who they are you need to tell the police.
“That’s your responsibility, it's a big and important responsibility.”
Bupre will face court again in early 2021.
