A new inclusive and accessible bar has opened in Port Adelaide with more than 100 people flocking to it on opening night.
Confession, located on Marryatt St in an old church, officially opened to the public last Thursday.
The opening night, which attracted about 140 people, showcased the venue’s “warm and cozy” vibes.
Owner Shane Hryhorec said he was pleased with the venue now construction was complete and he can show off his hard work.
“It was great, the vibe was great and everyone had a blast,” he said.
“Everyone (said they) feel like they’re in a New York bar … the atmosphere is also what everyone is talking about. It isn’t like anything we have in Adelaide.”
The venue, described as having “speakeasy underground bar vibes” by Mr Hryhorec, is completed with copper fittings to illuminate the space.
“The venue has well and truly exceeded expectations,” he said. “I had goosebumps from looking at the space.”
The bespoke venue, which can fit up to 200 people, has something for everyone with live music on offer from 6pm to 10pm before turning into an energetic nightclub until 2am.
“The dancefloor was packed on Friday and Saturday night,” Mr Hryhorec said.
“In my opinion, one of the best parts of the venue is the dancefloor.”
The venue is equipped for disabled patrons and workers to ensure an all-inclusive space that everyone can enjoy.
“We’re very clear and transparent about our access,” he said.
“It’s not just about creating a space punters love, but performers and workers love too.”
Reservations at Confession are available between 6.30pm and 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
