CROYDON Kings signing Rocky Visconte was never going to play for anyone else when he returned to SA after being released by A-League club Western Sydney.

Visconte, 23, played for the Kings from 2000 to 2006, breaking into the first team as a 16 year old.

The midfielder then embarked on stints with the SA Sports Institute, Scottish club Heart of Midlothian, Brisbane Roar, where he won two A-League titles, and the Wanderers.

He began training with Croydon when his time with Western Sydney ended last month and turned down offers from other SA clubs to commit to the Kings.

Visconte initially delayed signing with Croydon while waiting on potential A-League opportunities but put pen to paper last week.

"I'd been training with the club for two weeks and was waiting to hear back with A-League options," Visconte says.

"But there's nothing really decided at the moment with A-League options so I thought I'll come back to a local team to keep my fitness up.

"Croydon is my home club so I wouldn't have gone anywhere else.

"I also wanted a bit of a challenge as well.

"I want to help the team get into the top six (finals)."

Visconte scored on his debut for the Kings in Saturday's 3-1 win over Adelaide Comets.

He hopes to eventually have another crack at the A-League and says he has a lot to offer at the next level.

"I'm 23, I'm still young, I'm left-footed and there's not many left-footed players going around that can play at that level and I still feel I have a lot to offer.

"I hope playing in the Premier League can get the best out of me and if I keep doing well, I can keep showing everyone I've got a lot to offer and a (professional) club will pick me up."
