Almost all the homes offered in the first stage of Cedar Woods’ Fletcher’s Slip development have been sold following its official launch.
Of the 24 homes offered in the opening release, 20 have already been snapped up.
Developer Cedar Woods said it had received more than 2000 expressions of interest for the planned housing estate.
Its launch earlier this month attracted more than 800 people.
John Crosby, 31, of New Port, put his name down for one of the homes which he will share with his partner, Hannah Weber.
Having been a local for most of his life, he was excited to see movement in the Port.
“The way the Port has come to life and gets better and better every day, there was no way I was moving anywhere else,” Mr Crosby said.
“The big thing was we’re renting a two-bedroom apartment at the moment. I’m 31 now and it’s not right around the corner but eventually Hannah and I are going to start a family.
“The situation they’ve got there is pretty much perfect for what I want.”
He believed Fletcher’s Slip would be a good investment as Port Adelaide continued to grow.
“That place has been a patch of dirt for as long as I can remember,” he said.
“I’m really excited to see what the finished product looks like.”
Cedar Woods chief operating officer Patrick Archer said the firm had been “overwhelmed” with interest from potential buyers.
“The first purchasers at Fletcher’s Slip included first-home buyers, young families and
mature couples, reflecting the diverse community that we’re hoping to attract,” Mr Archer said.
“The Fletcher’s Slip home designs and masterplan have been well received by both
buyers and the local community, with positive feedback for plans to open up the
waterfront for greater public access and enjoyment.”
Meanwhile, the State Heritage Council is expected to meet this Friday to discuss the future of the historic Shed 26 — included in the development’s footprint.
