Car flips after crashing into another vehicle on Henley Beach Rd, Torrensville

Witnesses heard a loud bang and saw clouds of white smoke after a car collided with another vehicle and flipped on its roof at Torrensville this morning.

A car has flipped on to its roof after colliding with a another vehicle in Torrensville this morning.

It is believed the Volkswagen Golf was turning from Rankine Rd on to Henley Beach Rd about 10am when it collided with an oncoming Nissan SUV, causing the hatchback to become airborne.

The female driver of the Volkswagen Golf was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Advertiser understands another car was also involved in the crash, a Nissan Qashqai, though its driver was uninjured.

One witness, who volunteers at an op shop nearby, said she heard a loud bang before seeing the car upside down.

Julie, who only provided her first name, said the intersection was notoriously dangerous and she had seen dozens of “close calls”.

“You can hear them (drivers) slamming their brakes on just about every day.”

Southbound traffic was diverted around the crash, which happened between Marion Rd and South Rd, but has since resumed as normal.

Police are investigating the circumstances around the crash.
