The son of a late Finks bikie has avoided serving a term of imprisonment after assaulting two security guards at a popular western suburbs pub while under the influence of cocaine.
Boban Junior Jokic, 20, son of former Finks outlaw motorcycle gang member Boban Jokic, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault that causes harm in the Port Adelaide Magistrate court on Thursday.
The court heard Jokic was at the Ramsgate Hotel in Henley Beach enjoying a night out with friends in October of last year.
CCTV footage captured Jokic acting cordially and respectfully towards staff for the duration of the night, going as far as helping waiters round up glasses on the table.
Just before 11pm, two women engaged in a physical altercation on the dance floor, prompting security to step in.
“You come onto the scene, deliberately put your glass down on the table and make a deliberate decision to be a part of the assault,” Magistrate Jayanthi Pandya said in her sentencing.
“You punched him (the security guard) … the basis of why you punched him is unclear, it seems you just joined the assault and reacted without much thought.
“The victim fell down and blacked out, when he came to he was bleeding from his lip while suffering several kicks to his body,” Magistrate Pandya said.
“The second victim asked you to stop before he was punched multiple times in the face and you kicked him what he estimates to be 10 to 15 times.”
The court heard Jokic had a “scattered memory” and that he was misguided in the situation, with his defence counsel saying he was “paralytic” at the time of the offending.
Magistrate Pandya called Jokic’s actions “disappointing for such a young man” which had left his victims terrified.
“You had been using cocaine since 2021 but I am now told you have been able to disengage from using the drug,” she said.
“I’m told there are positive aspect and prospects of rehabilitation.”
Jokic was sentenced to a total of 10 months imprisonment, wholly suspended and Jokic was placed on and 18-month good behaviour bond.
