A Mile End hospitality business has been wound up after falling victim to COVID-19.
Bespoke Hospitality, which specialised in providing staff, hosts and performers for SA events, ceased trading on Friday, July 17.
Owner Peta-Anne Louth has left an emotional post on the business’s Facebook page, thanking everyone “who has joined us on our Bespoke journey”, in particular her staff.
Revealed: Every SA business gone bust in 2020
“2020 has been a difficult year so far, with many industries collapsing overnight and businesses under intense pressure from COVID-19,” she wrote.
“Bespoke is no exception.
“After much consideration I have had to make the decision to wrap up.”
She said building the business over the past nine years had been a “dream job”.
“We built a community and a way of caring for people, and that is something that I will always be incredibly proud of,” Ms Louth wrote.
“But it is equally my biggest heartbreak as I close the door today.”
Bespoke’s clients over the years have included the Adelaide Festival, Adelaide Cabaret Festival and Tasting Australia.
Ms Louth said she was most proud of the work environment she had created for her staff, who at the company’s peak numbered in the eighties.
She would now focus on a podcast she does with Thomas Founa called The House, and hosting positivity workshops for women.
Liquidator Nick Gyss, from DuncanPowell, said Bespoke Hospitality had stopped trading as a consequence of COVID-19.
“All of its customers cancelled their events that they had organised,” Mr Gyss said.
“It has gone into liquidation because its business has just disappeared overnight.”
He declined to saw how much the business owed, only saying its liabilities were “not substantial” and most of the outstanding debt was to the tax office.
“We are just in the process of sending out a circular today to creditors,” he said.

Mr Gyss said most of Bespoke’s employees were casual.
“The steps that the directors took in placing the business into administration was the responsible thing to do,” he said.
“The story here is not in the number of employees or the quantum of debt – it’s about the impact of COVID.
“There will be a number of businesses in this situation.”
