Adelaide Endurance ready to kick off Australian Premier League lawn bowls campaign in Queensland

ADELAIDE Endurance lawn bowler Wayne Ruediger does not expect any easy games when the Australian Premier League rolls into Queensland next week.

ADELAIDE Endurance lawn bowler Wayne Ruediger does not expect any easy games when the Australian Premier League rolls into Queensland next week.

In fact he believes every player in the new, fast-paced, six-team competition will be getting nervous because of the quality of the opposition and the fact it is being shown live on TV.

"It doesn't matter if you're a raring sheriff or Johnny nobody, you'll still be pretty nervous playing on live TV," Ruediger says.

"There's no bunnies there.

"There's no easybeats."

Ruediger, a Grange club bowler and Australian representative, has been drafted into the Endurance team alongside state teammates Mark Haines (West Lakes) and Scott Thulborn (Adelaide).

The Endurance are talking up their underdog status ahead of the Brisbane-based tournament and Ruediger says Sydney Lions, in particular, will be a handful.

"They've got a heap of experience with Steve Glasson, Aron Sherriff, who's close to the best player in the world, and Karen Murphy.

"But we do believe we're a solid chance in every game we play so we'll go up there, give it our best crack and you never know."

The six teams will play 10 matches on carpet greens, featuring games over five ends and two hour-long sets.

Adelaide begins its inaugural campaign against Perth Suns on November 19.

Its first televised game will be against hometown team Brisbane Gold the same day.

"Everyone's feeling pretty good," Ruediger says.

"It's a matter of it rolling now and getting our teeth into it."
