Parents nominated their bubs as SA’s cutest in droves, but one family’s story stood out as heart-wrenching. See who made the list, their stories and vote now.

We put out the call to find SA’s cutest babies and after hundreds of nominations we’ve narrowed it down to the top 40.

From miracle babies conceived after years of IVF to cheeky smiles and even four cousins born just days apart, South Australian babies are some of the cutest around.

Six-week-old Jacob James Rivett was just one of the adorable bubs nominated. His welcome to the world was full of love – but also grief. Read their story below.

A PRECIOUS GIFT AMID DEVASTATING LOSS

Just one week after mum Ruby Meyer of Gawler South found out she was pregnant, her fiancee and Jacob’s father Jake Rivett unexpectedly died after collapsing at work.

“I’m glad I found out I was pregnant when I did and was able to tell Jake and it was really nice to be able to have that moment with him,” Ms Meyer said.

“It was definitely difficult, the first thing that came to my mind when the police came to my door was ‘oh my god I’m pregnant how am I going to do this?’

“But I’m very, very grateful that I have lots of lots of support with family at home.”

Now just six weeks old, Jacob along with big brother Cooper, 3, are a living legacy of their father.

“Jacob is such a precious gift to be left with and having a boy that reminds me of Jake and looks like Jake is just the perfect gift,” Ms Meyer said.

“He’s precious, I love his eyes and his mouth and nose remind me so much of his father.”

Jacob is one of 43 babies in the running for the title of SA’s cutest baby born in 2021.
