At about 10.30am on Wednesday April 7, police were alerted to an alleged shop theft at West Lakes Shopping Centre, where two female suspects were seen leaving in a black BMW sedan.

Police said that checks on the car’s registration revealed that it was flagged as stolen, after being taken from a Pooraka home on Monday night.

Police patrols attended the area and spotted the allegedly stolen BMW travelling north on Frederick Rd towards Old Port Rd.

The allegedly stolen car was spotted again heading north on the Esplanade at Semaphore but was not pursued.

The police helicopter took over observations of the vehicle as it travelled through backstreets and into Port Adelaide.

Police set up road spikes and successfully spiked the car’s tyres at Port Adelaide on the corner of Commercial Rd and Grand Junction Rd.

It continued to travel east on Grand Junction Rd before being abandoned on Edwin Ave, Pennington.

As the BMW was dumped, it rolled forward and collided with a parked car causing minor damage.

The two women allegedly ran from the stolen BMW however police patrols quickly located the accused driver nearby.

Police and PolAir continued to search the area for the alleged passenger and arrested her about an hour later on Grand Junction Rd.

Shaw did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody to appear on the charges again in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on May 24.

Shaw is also scheduled to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on July 21 on earlier charges of the aggravated charge of serious criminal trespass of an occupied residence and the aggravated charge of dishonestly taking property without consent.

Her co-accused from Wednesday’s incident and alleged passenger in the car involved in the police pursuit, Rebecca Joyce Jackamarra, 29, Kilburn, was charged with driving or using a motor vehicle without consent and two counts of the basic offence of dishonestly taking property without consent.

Jackamarra applied for bail, with Magistrate Paul Foley ordering a home detention report be undertaken.

She is scheduled to appear in the Aboriginal Community Court in Adelaide on April 21, where the fresh charges will be heard along with older charges of the basic offence of serious criminal trespass at a residential address and the basic offence of dishonestly taking property without consent.
