Once known only for rates, roads and rubbish, local government is now responsible for everything from major infrastructure to community wellbeing, the arts, multiculturalism, retail and employment.

The Local Government Association of SA estimates that our state’s 68 councils manage more than $23 billion in community infrastructure.
