A Forestville personal trainer who blew more than four times the legal limit in February has told a court his behaviour was “disgusting”.

Toby William Leitch Treagus, 35, was on Tuesday convicted of drink driving after pleading guilty in Adelaide Magistrates Court.

The court heard Treagus blew .203 at Montefiore Hill in North Adelaide on February 23 – four days after his 35th birthday.

He was given an immediate 12 month loss of licence and his car was impounded.

The high reading made it a category three offence – the most serious level of drink driving charge.

Treagus told Magistrate Briony Kennewell that his drink driving was “disgusting”.

“I’ve hurt myself, my partner and the public,” Treagus said.

“I did have a drinking problem.

“I went and sought rehab and I’ve been in there for five months at The Woolshed (rehabilitation service).”

He said he had been sober “for about 10 months up until my birthday weekend” and “just had a massive lapse” that led to his drink driving.

“Since then, I’ve been going back to AA meetings.”

He said the loss of his licence had made it difficult to meet clients for his personal training business, 3Sixty Fitness, and he was relying on his partner to drive him to meetings after hours.

Otherwise, he had to meet them at a local park.

Magistrate Kennewell gave Treagus a $1200 fine.

He still has six months of his licence suspension left to serve.
