TOM CORCORAN
(Angaston)
Former Port Adelaide player Tom Corcoran was a standout for the Panthers as they topped reigning premier South Gawler 63-37 in the first BLGFA semi final.
Dominant through the middle, Corcoran was tough in the contest, efficient around the ground and also hit the scoreboard for two big goals.
COREY DAVEY
(Solomontown)
Solomontown pulled off an upset to overcome a 24-0 deficit and defeat a previously unbeaten PropRisdon away from home by eight points in the Spencer Gulf FL qualifying final and Davey was a major key to his side’s success.
The big-bodied star filled a number of roles around the ground for the Cats and was a standout, winning plenty of contested footy and creating a number of goalkicking chances for his team.
SEAN DAVIDSON
(Port District)
Port District’s captain was at his brilliant best around the ground against Sacred Heart over the weekend.
Davidson’s ability to win the footy in the air and at ground level before creating for teammates with his disposal was key to the impressive Ditters win.
BRETT ELLIS
(McLaren)
Triple Great Southern FL medallist Brett Ellis was dominant in his club’s 94-36 win over Encounter Bay.
The star veteran covered ground as well as anyone on the day to win a high number of contested possessions and release teammates through his distribution.
BEN HAREN
(Lockleys)
Lockleys’ star goalkicker produced yet another strong display on Saturday to help the Demons to the division three preliminary final.
Haren was a dominant presence up front with his ability to take big marks and kick five important goals and he was also important up the ground with his contest work.
BRANDON JACKSON-MARTIN
(Payneham Norwood Union)
A versatile player for the Falcons, Jackson-Martin was integral for his side in its five-point elimination final win over Golden Grove on Saturday.
Starting the game in the contest and across half-forward, Jackson-Martin was moved to the backline after an injury to key defender Blake Dodson and completely took over the final term with his intercept marking and distribution.
BRAD PRIOR
(Salisbury)
A workhorse around the ground who wins plenty of his own ball, distributes efficiently and always makes the right decisions in possession.
Prior’s performance against Eastern Park in a four-point qualifying final win was one of his best all season, the Magpies star racking up disposals for fun and creating for teammates.
LUKE RANDER
(Athelstone)
Athelstone’s captain has had a strong season and was important for the Raggies as they stayed alive with a win over Flinders Park to book a spot in the div two preliminary final.
A star forward who can impact the game in a number of ways, Rander’s presence in the air and his distribution to teammates up front made him one of the best players on the ground.
JAKE RUSSO
(Salisbury North)
Salisbury North’s consistent big man in the middle was a standout yet again for the Hawks in their second qualifying final win over Rostrevor OC.
Russo consistently gave his midfielders first looks at the footy in the contest with his tap work and was also a big presence around the ground.
RORY TAGGERT
(Mypolonga)
The former Melbourne and Sturt forward was a key signing for Mypolonga ahead of this River Murray FL season and he showed why on Saturday.
Taggert was dominant around the ground and in front of the big sticks in a tightly-contested qualifying final against Southern Mallee and booted four goals to earn his side the win.
