Three local SA footy brothers will make history on Saturday when they run out for their 1000th combined senior game at the same club.

SMOSH West Lakes veterans Aidan, Lyndon, and Taylor Parham will all play in their club’s A Grade division three Adelaide Footy League clash with Hope Valley to reach the major milestone.

36-year-old Aidan (334 games), 38-year-old Lyndon (349 games) and 34-year-old Taylor (317 games) have all played at SMOSH West Lakes since the early 2000s and have a huge list of achievements to show for it including team of the decade honours as well as multiple best and fairests, and junior, A and B Grade premierships.

“It’s really big for us but I think Taylor said it best earlier this week, we’ve just done what we’ve done and rocked up and played each week because we love the club and love playing footy,” Lyndon said.

“When you’re playing footy at a club you’ve grown up at and consider family, it makes it easy.

“SMOSH West Lakes is a very welcoming club, there’s no division between players in any grade, sponsors, volunteers and we ride the highs and lows together.

“We wrap around each other during the lean times like this season and want to improve so Aidan, Taylor and myself are still very motivated.”

While they are now in their 30s, the Parham brothers have performed consistently for the SMOSH West Lakes A Grade side despite not notching a win in division three so far this year.

Lyndon, who was named captain of the club’s team of the decade for the 2010s, said he and his brothers were still enjoying their footy and driven by the possibility of helping the club reach success again.

“We’ve been able to share a lot of things together at the club and making that team of the decade together was really special.

“Just being able to play together, we don’t take it for granted, it takes you back to being a kid.

“To be in our 30s and still running out there together, we enjoy it and we’re still pushing each other and motivated by being able to help the young kids come through and set them up for success.”

While the Lions will be celebrating the major milestone of the three brothers, Lyndon said it would be secondary to trying to achieve a first win of the season.

“Forget about winning for the 1000th game, we just want to win for the club and continue building for the future,” he said.

“Getting that win would mean everything and would be a testament to all the hard work people are putting in from the coaches and players to the volunteers, partners and sponsors.

“We haven’t had the results yet but we know we’re building something big and we’re keen to get back to being a successful club.”

SMOSH West Lakes will host Hope Valley from 2.15pm on Saturday.
