SEAFORD Soccer Club has signed veteran goalkeeper Fraser McLean for next year's FFSA State League campaign.

SEAFORD Soccer Club has signed veteran goalkeeper Fraser McLean for next year's FFSA State League campaign.

McLean, who joins the Rangers from southern rivals Noarlunga United, is the league's all-time games record holder.

The 43-year-old had been tipped to retire at the end of last season after his 452nd match.

But the Scottish-born shotstopper, who has also played for Birkalla and Adelaide Blue Eagles in a senior career spanning 25 years, accepted an offer from Seaford last week.

It is understood McLean will also take on a leadership role mentoring the Rangers' young players.

Coach Ben Dale said the club, which is celebrating its 40th year, was delighted with the recruit.

"We are extremely honoured to have such a legend of the game sign for us and to bring with him his wealth of knowledge and experience to not only assist in developing our young players but also importantly to assist us in achieving some success and a chance of winning something," Dale said.
