Riley Bonner has addressed rumours of his potential return to local SA footy as well as his hopes for the future after being delisted by St Kilda.
The former Port Adelaide halfback/wing played 19 AFL games for the Saints this year but was not offered another contract by the club.
The 27-year-old was reportedly chased by more than 100 clubs around Australia after being delisted by Port Adelaide last year and rumours have again begun to swell about a potential return to SA for the former West Adelaide gun and Goodwood Saints junior.
During an AFL Trade Radio interview this morning it was revealed Hills Football League club Echunga was one of the clubs which approached Bonner, with hopes he would pull on the red and blue for them alongside former West Adelaide teammate Brett Turner.
West Adelaide has also approached Bonner about a potential move back to SANFL footy.
Bonner said he hoped to find his way on to another AFL list and would likely opt to play in the VFL if another AFL opportunity did not present itself for the 2025 season.
“I’m keen to remain here and play VFL footy if that phone call (from an AFL club) doesn’t come,” he said.
With Turner set to continue on at Echunga next year, it would come as no surprise if the Demons ask the question again despite Bonner’s AFL/VFL aspirations.
